Participating in an Event
Besides the fact that we hope everyone who comes to an event participates in some way, we're trying to organise the Nomadic Festival this year to have a whole variety of different things happening and we're looking for people to help us. If you'd like to do something weird and strange, just contact us. Some things we look to happen at events include:
workshops. Particuliarly workshops on Consensus, Squatting, Ecology, Puppet Making, Alternative Medicine, Proper Drug Usage, Alternative Religions, etc.
literature exchanges. Zines. Information sheets on better living, avoiding the police, etc.
communal art projects. Everyone gets together to create a collage, a parade float, a quilt.
DJs. Ambient, house, jungle, gabber, trance, goa, whatever. Though it'll be depending upon what sound systems are available.
live drums and fire. The American Drum Revolution, Vivala! and Wandering Womb will be performing with live drums and fire. Bring more drums and fire to join in the chaos. [Note: Fire may be limited depending upon the space, but we will have it whenever we can].
bands. Preferrably those that promote a carnival or circus atmosphere.
theatre. One acts with little need for scenery are probably best, but any weird and bizarre theatre is encouraged.
games. Anyone want to host a quick Exquisite Corpse with a bunch of people. Maybe some trust games, other games to get us in touch with ourselves and others. Kickball, freeze tag.
fashion shows. And now check out the dried paper mache crust look on the fungus mutant.....
stand-up comedy. Tell a few jokes to lighten people up.
rants. Political, non-political, one-sided or schizophrenic.
poetry readings. Your own, someone elses, something you found in the trash.
lip synching. Why not?
If you want to participate by performing, hosting a workshop or discussion, passing out literature, providing free food, doing tattoos/piercings/tarot card readings or anything else, please contact us as soon as possible so we can figure out ahead of time how to acommodate everyone. During some events there may also be time for spontaneous performance and we highly encourage everyone to bring puppets, masks and costumes to any event.
