cyberspace
imagination is the key to reality. the more we imagine the more real
our imaginings become. cyberspace of phone. of television. of computers.
opening a rift. growing larger, through time. sucking people into
their fantasies. into their nightmares.
PAST (465 A.D.?)
a druid sits by a fire, scrying into the astral planes beyond the
physical. existing in the mind. appearing in a grove of trees.
created over the years by the constant focusing. visualising. of it
by the druids. since time before. until it has become real. a
life of its own. taking on the thought rememberances of all those
who have envisioned this place.
approaching the grove. a meeting is taking place. has been for the
past four years. the trees look sicklier. paler. less substantial
than they had a decade ago. there is a rift in the continium.
PRESENT
cyberspace opening a rift. the collective imaginings of people
watching Jurrassic Park, Terminator, big hit movies, people using
MUDs, computer dimensions, has caused these things to become real.
whereas it took the druids decades of hundreds of them
concentrating to create the grove, these places are now being created
in a year or less because millions of people are visualising it
in ways never dreamt of in the old times. dimensions of their own,
breaking into this one. one man, one woman, coming together, drawn
by their ancestry, their future.
FUTURE
as cyberspace expands into the future, the rift throws back, growing,
causing more rifts in the past. the rift doesn't begin until
sometime in the future when the breaking point is hit. now it is
travelling back through time, to the beginning of time. the future
has now become a nightmare. two from the present? someone designing
new genes to combat in the past.
rift allowing time travel. people flashing into the past. eventually,
a gene is created that removes the ability to create places in the
mind. certain races are chosen, from the beginning of time, to
retain the gene. to protect against future mutation. the rest of
the human race has it removed genetically in its far past.
possible implications. people who still have the gene, when they die
become ghosts. or perhaps they stay together and become the
supernatural races later chased as vampires, elves, little people, etc.
sequels could include people who escaped into their imaginings and
now come back to torture the world. or those who were missed when the
gene was removed, who still had those powers and passed them down
through the generations unbeknownst to the protectors. lots of
possibilities.
